Proverbs 16:3

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Handing over one's works, ways, actions, and purposes to the Lord brings the promised result that one's thoughts are established and brought into a settled course. The promise belongs with the warning that God weighs inward motives, and that what seems right in a person's own eyes is not the measure by which actions are judged. The surrender includes yielding even the thoughts themselves into captivity to Jesus Christ.
The entrusting of works to the Lord calls for consistent conduct brought under the test of God's searching laws. It means acting as an intelligent moral being who chooses the right and refuses the wrong, with a clear conscience and a pure purpose. Success in work depends on first studying God's Word to learn whether it forbids the plans being formed.
When God is made first and last and best in all the purposes and events of life, He becomes the very help that is needed. Then every plan devised bears the high signet of heaven's approval instead of seeking the seal of worldly commendation. The same entrusting of work to God belongs to teachers who labor faithfully, sincerely, and truthfully, and their daily work brings its reward.
