Better Is Little With the Fear of the LordBible World
16:8Proverbs 16:8
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
Having little while acting and living righteously is better than gaining great wealth, large income, and great revenues unjustly, without righteousness, without right, and without justice. A small possession held with righteousness outweighs abundance gotten by wrongdoing, so honest poverty stands above dishonest wealth. The worth of wealth is decided not by its amount but by whether it was gained rightly.
Great revenues are rejected when they are gained without justice, and they are likewise rejected when they are held without justice. This lifting of a right and just little over a wrongful large is instruction for the poor and the rich alike to hear and live by. It belongs as encouragement to those who are poor in worldly goods. It therefore requires refusing large and attractive inducements to take stock in uncertain enterprises and to plunge into worldly speculation, even when others have made thousands in that way.
