Proverbs 17:10

A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

The saying belongs among the brief sayings of familiar truth in Proverbs 1-24 credited to Solomon and probably brought together by him or in his time.
A single reproof enters deeply into a wise person and moves and corrects him, while even a hundred stripes make little impression on a fool and fail to change him.
The contrast shows the importance of submitting to correction.
Humbly receiving correction opens a person's eyes, while resisting correction shows moral blindness and the need for reproof.
