Proverbs 17:2

A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

A wise servant gains ruling authority over a son who acts shamefully and takes a portion of the inheritance alongside the brethren, so that household standing is decided by wisdom and conduct rather than by birth alone. The disgraceful son loses honor and place while the faithful servant is lifted into the son's position of trust and reward. For parents this carries a direct duty to correct, discipline, and train their children while they may still be shaped. Mere sonship secures neither honor nor authority in the family, and without faithful training a child may forfeit what a wise servant will obtain.
