Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
Wisdom is set before the one who has understanding, for the wise keep their eyes in their head and see spiritually for themselves, while the fool lets his eyes wander to the ends of the earth in search of someone else to see spiritually for him. Wisdom is obtained by coming into vital touch with God, by studying His Word as a lamp to the feet and a light to the path, and by going directly to Christ as the Light of the world whenever wisdom is desired. To turn to any living person for spiritual sight is folly, for human beings are erring mortals who may encourage where they ought to discourage and discourage where they ought to encourage. Those who fail to come into vital touch with God do not honor Him, have no experimental knowledge of the truth, and cannot become channels through which saving truth reaches others. Those who yield themselves to God to be purified, cleansed, sanctified, and anointed are given power to perceive the attraction of heavenly things above earthly things and to flash light amid the darkness of a sin-loving world.
