A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
Evil doers give heed to false lips while liars give ear willingly to a naughty, mischievous and harmful tongue, welcoming speech that is false and wrong. Taking up an evil report and spreading it makes the receiver share in the harm done by the one who started it. Turning away from scandal and refusing to hear it rebukes the detractor and tends to silence the detracting tongue, thus protecting another person's good name.
