A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
A man’s gift makes room for him by making a place for him and opening opportunities suited to that gift. To be brought before great men is to be brought before those in positions of responsibility. God gives opportunities according to what a person can safely be trusted to do, so a seemingly small sphere is not a sign that others are blocking the way.
Working with difficult or unpromising people is itself such an opportunity and a training that prepares a person to help others who can be saved. In the church each worker is to find his proper place of service through the gift God has given him, rather than aspiring to a fellow worker’s position.
