Proverbs 18:3

When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

The verse stands within the proverbs of Solomon found in chapters 1 to 24. Those proverbs were brought together by Solomon or in his time. As a proverb it is a maxim, a comparison, a brief sententious statement of a familiar truth. Its sense is that the arrival of a wicked person brings contempt with it, and disgraceful reproach arrives together with ignominy.
