Proverbs 19:7

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

A poor man may be rejected even by his own brethren and relatives. His friends withdraw from him and go far away, so that poverty drives both kin and companions off. Though he pursues them with words and seeks them out, they are absent and wanting to him and fail to bring him help. In this the verse lays bare the pain of being forsaken because of poverty.
