Proverbs 2:18

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

The house of the loose woman slopes downward toward death, and her tracks lead onward to the company of the dead. Whoever turns aside to her does not come back again, for the way back is lost. Her guests are already sunk in the depths of the grave, which proves how deadly that path is.

This warning stands within the instruction given in the second, third, and fourth chapters of Proverbs. That instruction corrects the habit of too much visiting from house to house. It also reproves unprofitable conversation that wastes time and weakens character. In place of these faults it teaches how to honor the Lord in word.
