Proverbs 21:12

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

The saying stands within Proverbs 19 to 22, among Solomon's wise sayings, and is to be read with temperance and talebearing in mind. It presents Jehovah as creator and governor of the universe and disposer of human destinies, who rewards piety and punishes evil. As practical wisdom for common everyday life, it bears on moral and religious duty to family, neighbor, friend, and God. It holds up modesty, chastity, temperance, forbearance, gentleness, and industry, teaches submission to correction and reproof, and warns against intemperance.
