Proverbs 23:15

My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.

A wise heart in a son brings joy and gladness to his father's heart, and a wise heart in a child brings joy to a parent.
Taken together with the next verse, a child's wisdom and right speech both bring joy to a parent's heart.
That joy belongs not to a father only but to a teacher also.

The wisdom meant is a heart and mind in harmony with the Lord, coming from God.
It is shown in fearing the Lord and turning away from evil.
It does not depend on having much worldly education.
It inclines a person to receive instruction and to follow a right course.
Its fullness is found in Christ, who is wisdom from God.

God desires His people to rejoice, especially when they gather together, and the permission to eat and drink in rejoicing in Deuteronomy 14:26 means rejoicing kept within that limit.
Those standing in the light will not lust after what is wrong and will certainly not go to unseemly excess.
The strong drink of ancient times is not to be compared with the poisonous preparations used at the present time.
