Proverbs 25:10

Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

Debate the cause with the neighbor involved rather than disclosing it to an outsider. Exposing a private dispute to another person risks that the one who hears it will put the discloser to shame. That shameful report and infamy will not turn away but will continue to circulate.

In its wider setting a word fittingly spoken is precious. A wise reprover is an ornament to an obedient listener. A faithful messenger refreshes those who sent him. Reproof and warning bring blessing when they are received patiently and with a teachable spirit.
