Proverbs 25:7
For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen. For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
It is better to be invited to come up higher than to be put lower and publicly demoted in the presence of a prince or ruler whose authority the eyes have seen and recognized. That invitation to a higher place belongs to workers who faithfully do their appointed work, for in God's own time those who have qualified themselves for greater responsibility will be advanced, and their worth will be recognized by those who have tested them. It is likewise the reward of learning life's lessons of duty and happiness, becoming fitted through trials and temptations for the society of the pure and holy.
The same call applies to a young person beginning at the lowest level, who instead of becoming discouraged should keep advancing, trusting that Christ will commend faithfulness in small duties, will entrust greater responsibilities, and will at last welcome the faithful into His joy. Jesus' call to come up higher is heard by those who seek God in prayer and trust Him, ceasing to exalt themselves.
