Proverbs 26:2

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

The causeless curse does not alight, and no suffering or trouble comes without a cause. What a person does grows out of what he is. A person's life experience and the troubles that befall him grow largely, to a great degree, out of his own thoughts and deeds. Every deed reacts and brings its consequences back upon the doer, so that the evils that curse a life are the harvest of his own sowing. Even while bearing such deserved retribution, hope remains.

In the same way disease does not arise without a cause, and disregarding the laws of health prepares the way for it. A parent's harmful care can bring about an infant's suffering and death. God takes no pleasure in the suffering or death of children, but entrusts them to parents for physical, mental, and moral education and preparation for a useful life and for heaven.
