Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Be diligent to know the state of what is entrusted and to look well to its care. The requirement reaches humble work as well as important work, including such lowly labor as tending herds and sheep. Careful faithfulness in present duties prepares a person for greater responsibility and for a life of service. That diligence builds efficiency, so small tasks are not to be despised.
