Proverbs 28:12

When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

When those who are righteous are honored, there is great glory and open rejoicing in public life. When wicked men rise to power, the opposite condition follows, and men conceal themselves in insecurity. The two states stand in direct contrast, with honor for the righteous bringing brightness and triumph, and dominance by the wicked bringing hiding and fear. This contrast belongs to believers who keep the commandments while self-deceived opposers treat them with contempt, excuse sin, and neglect justice, truth, and mercy.
