Proverbs 28:22

He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

Hastening to become rich is greed, joined to a failure to consider that poverty will come upon the hasty seeker. The warning is against risking one's means in the hope of quickly improving one's condition. Even a small income is therefore to be managed prudently rather than hazarded for rapid gain.
