Proverbs 28:4

They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Forsaking God's law amounts to praising the wicked. Keeping God's law means contending with the wicked and standing against them. Claiming purity while urging union with people who oppose the cause of truth violates God's law.

Rejecting God's warnings and reproofs in order to heed the counsel of His enemies supports the wicked. Such compromising counsel weakens faith in God's guidance and must be firmly resisted. Conduct that sides with God's enemies severely tests His faithful servants.
