Elder Judge Listens to a Poor Widow at the GateBible World

Proverbs 29:14

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

The saying is one of Solomon's proverbs and stands in the last fifteen chapters of the book. It belongs to the collection in chapters 25-29, beginning with chapter 25. That collection was copied out of Solomon's many writings by the scribes of Hezekiah, the men appointed by him for the work.

Solomon's proverbs were written about the year 1000 and later. He wrote three thousand proverbs in all, from which this collection was drawn. Like the rest of the book, it is one of the brief, sententious sayings that make up Proverbs.
