Elder Judge Listens to a Poor Widow at the GateBible World

Proverbs 29:7

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

The proverbs in chapters 25 to 29 were copied out of Solomon's writings by men appointed by Hezekiah. The righteous consider the cause of the poor, while the wicked do not care to know it. To be righteous is to take the needs and circumstances of the poor seriously and to seek to understand their cause, whereas to be wicked is to refuse to concern oneself with it.

Efforts shaped by selfishness increase poverty. Oppression of the poor marks the last days.

Considering the cause of the poor requires helping poor people who desire the three angels' messages, the cleansing of the sanctuary, and the atonement. Those who cannot buy books must not be left to perish for lack of knowledge. Those with more property than they need should give money for books to be lent out by believers wherever willing readers are found. In this way more may come to know, love and obey the truth and be saved.
