Proverbs 3:11

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

The chastening and correction are the Lord's own loving discipline, sent in trial and rebuke for benefit and not for harm. They are not to be despised, and the one under them is not to lose heart or grow weary when corrected. When trials are received in this spirit instead of being resented or fainted under, they open the way to recognize God's presence. In that presence the soul obtains the blessing and comfort it needs.
