Proverbs 30:13

There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

The saying belongs to the words of Agur, set apart from the earlier collections in Proverbs. That Agur portion is later in date than those earlier collections. Within it, the saying describes a generation marked as wicked and defined by pride. Its lofty eyes and lifted eyelids are the visible expression of self-exaltation.
