Proverbs 30:2

Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

Proverbs 30:2 belongs to the words of Agur the son of Jakeh. Who Agur was is not known. This section is later in date than the collections of Solomon's proverbs.

The chapter may have been written by someone other than Solomon, though Solomon may have written it. If Solomon wrote it, he may have done so to make its lessons more striking. Its short, condensed sayings require careful, unhurried thought rather than a quick reading.
