Proverbs 30:28

The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.

The spider takes hold with its hands, with both hands, and by that grasp gains a place even in kings' palaces. It illustrates perseverance, continuing to try after repeated failures and thereby encouraging others not to give up. Its taking hold with both hands illustrates wholehearted effort, teaching that service should not be divided between God and the world. Its use of its hands to reach a king's palace illustrates that diligent work with the hands instead of idleness may bring a person before rulers.

Its taking hold illustrates appropriating faith, by which Christians grasp God's promises and freely receive the water of life, rising by faith toward grace and glory. Its presence in kings' palaces pictures aspiring to a higher sphere in the Christian life, and as Christians advance upward they become humbler in their own estimation. Even the spider in the king's palace has a purpose and is not there without an errand.
