Proverbs 4:11

I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

God teaches the way of wisdom and leads in right, straight and safe paths. Turning to the Lord with complete resolve and full purpose of heart belongs to that leading. Instruction is to be grasped firmly and held without letting go, because instruction is life, so that those who keep wisdom walk without hindrance and run without stumbling. That same wisdom requires refusing to enter the path of the wicked by avoiding evil people, passing by them and turning away.

By contrast, the wicked cannot sleep unless they have done harm and caused others to fall. Their way is darkness where they do not know what causes them to stumble, and this is the condition of the world today. By contrast, the path of the just grows brighter and brighter until the perfect day.

Its teaching applies to Sabbath-school teachers and officers, who are responsible to guide the young into safe paths and to help the weak and straying avoid spiritual ruin. Its teaching applies also to teachers chosen for schools of every grade, who feel accountable to God to impress the need to know Christ as a personal Saviour and who labor by personal effort for the salvation of students to lead their feet into straight paths. Such teachers look with compassion on those poorly trained in childhood and work to correct defects that would greatly mar character if retained, a work that can be done only by first learning how to teach in the school of Christ.
