Proverbs 4:9

She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Solomon in Proverbs 4 reflects the careful instruction he received from his father, which laid the foundation for a virtuous character. Those who embrace wisdom receive honor, an ornament of grace given to the head and a crown of glory delivered to them. That reward belongs to the teaching that wisdom's instruction leads to the path of life. It is part of the blessedness of finding wisdom, finding life, and obtaining favor of the Lord by hearkening to her, keeping her ways, hearing instruction, watching daily at her gates, and waiting at her doors.

By contrast, refusing reproof and instruction and rejecting that path brings spiritual disease and death and can end in a life ruined by sin. The verse is among the passages to be studied in instructing children to prepare them for adolescence, to explain its physical significance, to help them understand their value, and to guard them from dangers that can harm them physically and morally.
