The Young Man's Crossroads from Proverbs 5Bible World
5:8Proverbs 5:8
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Keeping the path far from the immoral strange woman and never approaching the entrance of her house is commanded because mere nearness to her leads to ruin. Distance is not caution alone but the required safeguard against destruction. The danger lies in proximity itself, for to draw close is to enter the way of loss.
Her allure appears sweet at first, with lips dripping like honey and speech smoother than oil. That pleasant beginning turns bitter as wormwood and piercing as a two-edged sword in the end. Yielding to her surrenders honor to others and gives years to the cruel, enriches strangers with wealth and places the fruit of labor in the house of another, and closes in mourning when flesh and body are wasted away. Her house slopes downward toward death, none who enter her return again, and her guests are found in the depths of hell.
