The Young Man's Crossroads from Proverbs 5Bible World

Proverbs 5:9

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

Going near the adulterous woman forfeits a man's honor to others and hands his years over to the cruel. The loss is not merely inward, but a transfer of standing and life away from himself to those who will show no mercy. The danger is heightened because the approach begins with enticement rather than open harm.

The strange woman draws with lips sweet as honey and speech smoother than oil, yet her end is bitter as wormwood and sharp as a sword. Giving honor and years to others means strangers become filled with his wealth and his labors come to enrich a stranger's house. The end is mourning at the last when flesh and body are consumed. Her house inclines toward death with no return for those who enter, and her guests are found in the depths of hell.
