Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
The surrounding chapter is heavenly wisdom addressing the human family, with the Lord earnestly seeking to instruct every soul willing to be taught. True wisdom is defined as counsel and sound wisdom together with understanding and strength. Counsel and sound wisdom belong to God the Lord.
Christ himself holds right counsel and sound judgment, along with understanding and strength to impart to others. God desires His chosen to possess the spirit of heavenly wisdom and to improve their intellectual powers. By the power of the Holy Spirit He gives His Word effectiveness, so no one needs to walk in uncertainty or grieve over not knowing and experiencing its moving upon the heart.
True faith takes in the whole person and lifts the soul out of an imperfect, undeveloped condition so that it can grasp this true wisdom. Those who hunger and thirst for instruction in righteousness will be filled. This wisdom is to be appreciated and humbly and earnestly sought in prayer for the Lord's guidance as need requires. Such prayer sets in order the many things that need to be set in order, and asks Him to reveal the secrets of wisdom and to teach what is not known.
Ministers in particular must depend on Christ rather than on their own strength. From Him they are to receive the wisdom and power required to meet opposition and to serve others.
