Psalms 101:5
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
The verse records a vow to cut off whoever secretly slanders a neighbor and to refuse to tolerate one with a high look and a proud heart. It is God's promise that He will cut off or remove whoever secretly slanders a neighbor and will not suffer the proud look and the proud heart. Deceivers, liars, slanderers, and the proud cannot remain in His house, in His household, in His sight, or in His presence.
The faithful of the land may dwell with Him, and he who walks in a perfect way shall serve Him as His servant. This is the promise to all who obey Him, that they shall dwell with Him as His servants. His eyes are upon the faithful of the land that they may dwell with Him.
The verse is a vow for all who guard the influences of the home to make, setting the standard for the home. Guarding the influences of the home requires cutting off the secret slanderer from the home circle and refusing to tolerate pride. Living it out requires choosing only good and faithful counsellors and helpers, refusing to uphold unrighteousness or selfishness, and refusing to oppress fellow men. It requires treating the humble with favor, pronouncing fewer judgments on others, and revealing meekness and lowliness from a heart purified by the Spirit of God.
