Psalms 104:27

These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

All living things wait upon God, looking to Him to give them their food at the proper time and in its right season. This waiting belongs to every living creature, from the smallest insect up to human beings, all daily dependent on His providential care. Their dependence and His supply form part of the testimony of creation to His power and greatness.

When He gives, they gather what is placed before them and are filled with good from His open hand. Their daily provision comes not from nature acting by its own inherent energy under fixed laws, nor by any power independent of Him, but from His continuing care. He continually uses the laws of nature as His instruments, working actively in and through them to uphold, feed, and fill with good what He created. The provisions of the natural world are thus supplied by Him for the happiness and sustenance of His creatures. When He withdraws His sustaining care they are troubled and die and return to dust, and when He sends forth His Spirit He brings life into creation and renews the face of the earth.

The giving of food in due season also pictures Sabbath meetings where members share experiences gained through faithful work for others, so that their testimonies nourish those present with new life and fresh vigor. In the same way, dependent ones waiting for food at the right time pictures people who are open to truth and urgently need spiritual nourishment, which should not be withheld while attention is spent on manufactured objections.
