Psalms 105:1

O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

O give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name, and make His deeds known among the peoples. Proclaiming His acts belongs together with praising Him and speaking of His wondrous works. The lines that follow extend this praise by urging singing of His works, rejoicing in His holy name, and continually seeking Him and His strength.

The verse belongs to a psalm that is a record of Israel's history and experience. That history includes being under the cloud, passing through the sea, being baptized unto Moses, eating the same spiritual meat and drinking the same spiritual drink from the spiritual Rock that followed them, which was Christ, yet with many of them God was not well pleased and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

It teaches the necessity of appreciating God's goodness, mercy, and love, and studying it helps people do so. It is for all who claim to be children of God to read carefully. Its words are to be taken into personal experience as a basis for trust and growing faith.

By itself, the psalm contains lessons of warning that God's people in these last days especially need to study. Together with Psalm 106, its history contains warnings for God's people in the last days that especially need to be studied regularly. The psalm should be read at least once every week, and by one account together with Psalm 106.
