Psalms 105:6

O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen identifies Israel as the descendants of Abraham, God's servant, and the children of Jacob, whom God chose. Those addressed are heirs of the covenant made with Abraham, sworn to Isaac, and established with Jacob, which promised Canaan as their inheritance. God protected them while they were few and journeying among nations.

The psalm recounts Israel's experience when all were under the cloud and passed through the sea and were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink from the spiritual Rock that followed them, which was Christ. Yet with many of them God was not well pleased, and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

The verse calls those addressed to remember and give careful attention to God's works, to praise the Lord. Through those works they are to appreciate His goodness, mercy, and love. Those who seek the Lord are urged to let their hearts rejoice rather than become discouraged, dispirited, and unbelieving. They are to remain calm and patient in trust and dependence on the One who knows their needs, with their spirits sweetened and cheered by the sunshine of Christ's righteousness.

As part of Israel's recorded history, the verse speaks to all who profess or claim to be God's children as the seed of Abraham and children of Jacob, urging them to study that history. That history carries lessons of warning that God's people in the last days especially need to study. It should be studied regularly. Psalm 105 together with Psalm 106 should be read at least once every week.
