Psalms 106:21

They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

Israel forgot God as their Savior in spite of the great things He had done in Egypt. That forgetting was forgetting the God who made and redeemed them, and even after seeing His wondrous works they tempted Him. In its setting this forgetfulness is bound up with repeated rebellion that brought the danger that God would destroy them, a danger turned aside when Moses' intercession turned away His wrath.

Studying this history helps people appreciate God's goodness, mercy, and love. Psalms 105 and 107 belong together with this psalm in teaching that lesson.

The record of Israel's experience to which this belongs serves as a warning for God's people in the last days, to be studied and heeded. The warning is to avoid the same sins, unbelief, and rebellion.
