Psalms 106:41

And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

Psalm 106 recounts the history of Israel and invites careful study of God's goodness, mercy, and love. The verse means that God gave Israel into the hand of heathen, hostile, foreign nations, allowing those who hated them to rule over them. Israel's rebellion, idolatry, and rejection of God's ways provoked God's anger and caused Him to hand His people over.

The course leading to that handover was failure to drive out the nations, followed by adopting their practices and serving their idols. The subjugating nations were those whose practices Israel had chosen to follow, and Israel became their prey. Those rulers oppressed Israel and brought the people into subjection.

As part of the recorded history of Israel's failures, the verse serves as a warning for God's people in the last days. That history should be studied regularly in order to avoid the same sins, unbelief, and rebellion. Psalm 106 is repeated together with Psalms 103, 104, 105, and 107 by a large and ever-increasing multitude represented by Daniells and Prescott, and that same company then passes one by one through a very narrow gate where not even the lightest burden can be carried, while those unwilling to relinquish their idols are left behind.
