Psalms 106:42

Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

Their enemies oppressed them and brought them into subjection under their control. This subjection came as a consequence of rebellion and idolatry, after turning from God's ways and adopting the practices of other nations. It belongs to the history and wilderness experience of Israel recorded in Psalms 105 and 106.

That wilderness experience is the same one in which all were under the cloud and through the sea, baptized unto Moses, eating the same spiritual meat and drinking the same spiritual drink from the spiritual Rock that was Christ, yet many were overthrown because God was not well pleased. At the same time it calls attention to God's goodness, mercy, and love, teaching the necessity of appreciating them. It stands as a warning example and lesson from Israel's history that is especially needed by God's people in the last days.

It should be studied to help God's people in the last days avoid the same sins, unbelief, and rebellion. Psalms 105 and 106 should be read at least once every week, and Psalms 105 and 107 should be read carefully by all who claim to be children of God.
