Psalms 106:43

Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

God delivered Israel many times, rescuing them from the nations that hated them, ruled over them, oppressed them, and brought them into subjection. Yet despite those repeated deliverances they provoked Him by following their own counsel and remaining rebellious. That self-chosen counsel meant turning to heathen ways, and that adoption of heathen ways brought their downfall and made them prey to the very nations whose practices they had chosen.

Because of their iniquity and sin they were brought low and suffered. At the same time the repeated rescues reveal God's goodness, mercy, and love in delivering Israel many times even while they provoked Him. All who claim to be children of God should read the account carefully and appreciate that goodness, mercy, and love.

Israel's history here stands as a warning for God's people in the last days, holding lessons to be studied so they avoid the same sins, unbelief, and rebellion. They are not to repeat Israel's sins.
