Psalms 107:34

A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

God turns a fruitful land into salty barrenness because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. That desolating judgment belongs to His sovereign power over nature, by which He also turns rivers into wilderness and watersprings into dry ground. The same power works in reverse, turning wilderness into standing pools of water and dry ground into flowing springs. There He settles the hungry to build a city to dwell in, to sow fields and plant vineyards, to gather abundant harvests, to multiply greatly under His blessing, and to keep their cattle from decreasing.
