This merciful reversal follows His judgment in which He turns rivers into wilderness and springs of water into thirsty ground, and fruitful land into a salt desert because of the wickedness of those who dwell there. In the land thus renewed He makes the hungry dwell, so that they may prepare a city for habitation. There they sow fields and plant vineyards and obtain fruits of increase. He blesses them so that they are multiplied greatly, and He does not allow their cattle to decrease.
