Travelers Find Water in the Desert Sandby Heloise

Psalms 107:5

Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

The verse pictures people wandering in a desert way, in a solitary wilderness, who found no city to live in or make their habitation. Lacking food and drink, they were brought low and weakened until their soul fainted within them and their strength failed. Their need drove them to cry unto the Lord, to Jehovah, in their trouble. He delivered them out of their distresses.

He led and guided them toward a dwelling place, toward a city and place to dwell. That leading was by a straight way to a city of habitation. He satisfied the longing soul and filled the hungry soul with goodness. This calls for men to praise Him for His loving-kindness and for His wonderful works to the children of men.
