David Kneels in Prayer While Men Mock Himby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 109:24

My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.

Psalm 109 is a prophetic imprecatory psalm, grouped with the cursing psalms, that depicts tribulation and punishment coming upon the enemies of the church and upon the wicked. Its curses are predictive declarations of God's retributive justice in which God speaks against the wicked, not expressions of personal revenge by David for himself nor calls to cruelty. It is a plea for divine justice teaching that those who plot wickedness against the innocent receive the consequences of their own deeds, since their evil lives lead them to seek such punishments for others. Its statement about a prayer becoming sin applies to Judas, meaning that his defense served to deepen his guilt and hasten his condemnation.
