Psalms 11:6
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
Upon the wicked God rains snares, fire and brimstone, and a devastating tempest, and this is the allotted portion of their cup. The fire and brimstone are their appointed fiery judgment and punishment from God. The verse points to the final judgment, when fire comes down from God to destroy the wicked on the earth. At that time the earth itself is consumed by that fire from God. The wicked then receive their recompense on earth according to their deeds. Their punishment varies in duration, so that some are destroyed quickly while others suffer longer, even for many days, but all are ultimately destroyed.
