Psalms 113:7

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;

God lifts the destitute from the dust and the needy from the refuse heap and seats them with princes, and He brings them there along a humble path that He Himself marks out. That placing among princes comes by wisdom that has been sanctified. Such wisdom is given when a person sees that he lacks wisdom and seeks the Lord with the whole heart and mind and soul. It is gained by studying the life of Christ with sanctified vision, by accepting the ways of the Lord, and by glorifying Him.

The verse calls each person to humble himself under the mighty hand of God instead of refusing that humble way. He is not to wait until he must be humbled over and over again. The promise of being raised and set among princes was twisted into an assurance that God would lift the Jewish people to earthly dominion. In that form it was made to feed national ambition for power. That use set it against the lowly work Christ came to do.
