Psalms 118:25

Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

The verse is a plea for the Lord to save and to send prosperity and deliverance. It belongs to songs of praise and thanksgiving in which worshipers at the Feast of Tabernacles shouted hosanna. It supplied the prophetic words echoed in joyful praise welcoming the coming Lord. That praise was taken up by the crowd at Jesus' entry into Jerusalem in the cry of hosanna and the blessing on the one coming in the Lord's name.

At that entry the cry expressed hope for rescue and prosperity through the Son of David and for his prosperous reign on David's throne. Yet that entry came before his suffering and death. Seeing God's salvation in answer to the plea involves praying and working in faith and love. It requires setting aside self-interest and working together, as in seeking God's help to free schools from debt.
