Psalms 119:110

The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.

The verse belongs to a psalm that exalts God's law and presents His Word as the rule for life and the instructor of life. Through the precepts the learner gains understanding, and by that understanding the heart is inclined to keep God's statutes. Those statutes shape character and shape the whole life.

The psalm affirms obedience to God's law in the setting of the world's growing defiance and wickedness. Those who remain obedient receive continual light. God will punish the wickedness that insults His commandments.

Although the wicked lay a snare for David and for the faithful, he does not err and does not turn aside from God's precepts. He remains steadfastly obedient amid opposition, true to God when traps are set for him.
