Psalms 119:120

My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

The verse belongs to a psalm that exalts God's law and testimonies. Its judgments and commandments are presented as the standard that guides life, calling for delight in and obedience to God's Word. The verse voices trembling fear before God and dread of His judgments, honoring the sacredness of His law.

That fear is felt because bold and defiant wickedness against His holy law has reached its full measure, so the Lord will certainly interfere and arise to punish. His forbearance has been very great in the face of continual insult to His holy commandments, His long-suffering restraining His own attributes as omnipotence exerted over Himself. He has borne long with continually increasing defiance and perversity against the laws given to govern the human beings He created, while giving continual light to those who remain obedient. Life is becoming intolerable through cruelty because men have changed His laws.
