Psalms 119:134

Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.

The prayer asks for rescue from the pressure and tyranny of people in order that obedience to divine precepts may be kept freely and fully. In the last days it becomes the song of the commandment-keeping people, when the law of God is despised and frowned upon and made void by human authority. As that crisis and emergency deepens, their fidelity and loyalty and love for the law increase with it rather than weakening. The contempt heaped upon the law only leads them to show that love still more decidedly and with happy voices, even while they proclaim the third angel's message.

It stands joined to the surrounding petitions to have steps ordered in the word, to allow no iniquity to have dominion, to receive mercy, to have the divine face shine in favor, and to be taught the statutes. It stands joined also to loving the commandments above gold, even fine gold, and to esteeming all the precepts concerning all things to be right. It stands joined further to hating every false way and to weeping with rivers of waters because others do not keep the law.
