Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
In its psalm setting the verse exalts God's law, presenting His testimonies as sacred and as a trustworthy guide. To call the testimonies righteous and very faithful means they are holy laws commanded by God to govern the human beings He created, and they serve as the rule of life. They are righteous and wholly trustworthy. They direct the mind to God's Word, which stands above human counsel and clearly shows the difference between right and wrong and between truth and error.
People boldly defy those commandments, insult them continually, and change them. Changing His laws brings cruelty that makes life intolerable. Persistent wickedness and rejection of truth bring certain divine judgment, so because of this defiance God will arise to punish the wicked.
Even so, God's forbearance is very great and His long-suffering is remarkable, holding back His own power while He keeps giving light to those who remain obedient.
