Psalms 119:145

I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes.

Together with Psalm 126 and Psalm 127 it stands as a united message concerning the condition of the world, pressed with an earnest voice upon a large assembly. In that setting its wholehearted cry and pledge to keep the statutes belongs to a solemn warning rather than to private devotion alone. The three psalms together confront hearers with the moral state of the age and call for attention to God's law.

The verse declares that divine forbearance and long-suffering have been very great in the face of continual insult to the commandments. Wickedness in the world has now reached the point where further delay is not to be expected. The Lord will certainly arise to punish bold and defiant transgression of His holy law.
